Virginia State University Description:

Virginia State University is a highly regarded historically black university located in Ettrick, Virginia, just outside Petersburg. The attractive 236-acre main campus overlooks the Appomattox River. Washington, DC, and the Raleigh-Durham area are both about two hours away. The university also has a 416-acre agricultural research campus. Undergraduates can choose from 34 bachelor's degree programs from a range of liberal arts and professional fields. VSU has some excellent financial aid programs for low income applicants. On the athletic front, the Virginia State University Trojans compete in the NCAA Division II Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association (CIAA).
